The Top 3 Stories

1. Klaviyo buys Agency and hands Elias Torres the product keys

Klaviyo has agreed to acquire Agency, the three-year-old AI customer success startup founded by Elias Torres, who joins as chief product officer. He will lead Composer, which builds campaigns, and Customer Agent, which handles returns and order tracking. Agency had raised $32m from Sequoia, Menlo Ventures and Felicis.

Why it matters: Lifecycle platforms are buying agent teams rather than building them, so your email stack is about to start acting on its own. 📰 TechCrunch

2. Synthetic research pushes to the front of the creative process

New Zealand research firm Ideally wants consumer testing to shape ideas rather than judge them, with an AI layer that compounds insight across teams. Omnicom Oceania has run it across more than 60 tests at roughly a tenth of a traditional research budget. Wakefield Research warns synthetic panels risk recreating the past.

Why it matters: Cheap, overnight testing changes when research happens, not just how much of it you can afford. 📰 Digiday

3. Only 53% of marketers can point to meaningful AI returns

TransUnion surveyed 100 senior US marketing leaders at brands spending $50m or more a year. Some 89% expect AI budgets to rise, yet only 36% rate their data and processes as ready, and 65% measure AI purely on time and cost savings.

Why it matters: Budgets are being signed off on efficiency metrics that say nothing about revenue, which is an awkward place to be at renewal. 📰 PPC Land

I'm betting my entire marketing strategy on this one shift

Neil Patel argues the 20-year era of winning a click on a list of blue links is ending, because AI systems now weigh the options and hand back a verdict naming only two or three businesses. His case is that reputation, not ranking, is becoming the infrastructure of marketing - watch it here.

How to build a client-ready monthly report using ZapDigits MCP

The overview:

ZapDigits MCP is a server that gives Claude or ChatGPT read-only access to 30+ of your marketing data sources, so the monthly client report becomes something you ask for rather than assemble.

Step-by-step:

  1. Connect your sources
Add analytics, search and ad accounts inside ZapDigits, the reporting platform the MCP sits on top of.
Read-only access is enough, so you do not need admin rights on every account.

  2. Point your assistant at the MCP server
Add the ZapDigits endpoint to Claude or ChatGPT.
One connection covers all 30+ sources, so resist wiring up platform connectors separately.

  3. Ask for the month in plain English
Prompt for spend, conversions and channel movement against the previous period.
Name the client and the date range explicitly or the agent will quietly guess.

  4. Interrogate the drops
Ask why a channel moved instead of accepting the summary.
Good output names a campaign or a landing page, not a vague trend.

  5. Publish it in the white-label dashboard
Move the agent's commentary into the ZapDigits report your client already sees.
Keep each platform's reported figures intact so the numbers reconcile.

Pro tip: Save the prompt as a monthly template and change only the client name and date range.

The weekly deep dive

The IAB tries to make AI visibility measurable

The IAB has published the industry's first standardised guidelines for measuring whether AI assistants mention your brand at all.

Twenty vendors, twenty answers
The trade group counted more than 20 companies selling AI visibility measurement and found little consistency between their methods or their results. Its response is a shared vocabulary and disclosure requirements rather than a vendor league table. McKinsey puts the stakes plainly: laggards could see traffic declines as high as 50% from traditional search.

The four Ps
The framework stacks presence, prominence, portrayal and persuasion. Presence covers mention rate, citation rate and share of voice; prominence covers placement and ranking order; portrayal covers sentiment, framing and hallucination rates; persuasion covers recommendation strength and post-citation click-through. Publishers get the same four principles with different metrics attached.

Directional versus decision-grade
The IAB then splits data into two tiers. Directional measurement is fine for early signal detection and competitive awareness but is not rigorous enough to move budget. Decision-grade demands sample size, query volume, prompt coverage, testing cadence and reproducibility, and only 16% of brands currently track AI search performance systematically.

Our takeaway: Ask your AI visibility vendor which tier its numbers sit in before you move a penny of budget on the strength of them.
